Sam’s Story

I am a nature and travel photographer based in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. From a young age, I have had an interest in the natural environment, which was sparked by annual family camping trips in Algonquin Provincial Park. As the years went by, I found myself wanting to document the world around me in a creative way.

Having little to no skill with pencil or paint, I discovered my passion for photography as an artistic medium while pursuing a degree in Environmental Science. Over the years I have worked to hone my craft to create images that aim to captivate the viewer and draw attention to the raw beauty of nature, and raise awareness of the wildlife living just beyond our doorsteps.

While exploring the natural environment close to home is a cornerstone of my photography, over the past several years I have expanded my portfolio to include images from around the world. Travel has become a significant part of my identity as a person and an artist. The world is a remarkably diverse, and interesting place with seemingly endless things to explore and discover. For many, travel can be a daunting thought, but I think it’s a core component of the human experience. Immersing oneself into how other parts of the world live, experiencing their culture, and understanding their history, provokes thoughtful reflection on how we live our lives. My hope is that these images inspire the viewer to explore the world in their own way.
